The Matsuo Hachimantai Geothermal Power Plant, which supplies electricity to Hachimantai Resort, is a new geothermal power plant that began generating electricity on January 29, 2019. Geothermal power can generate electricity stably regardless of the season or time of day, and the Matsuo Hachimantai Geothermal Power Plant has the capacity to generate enough electricity to power approximately 15,000 average households.
